A note from Dave Ryan – Founder of CompensationGPS
I founded CompensationGPS in 2010 with the goal of helping companies in Maryland, Northern Virginia and the District of Columbia with important compensation matters. From my office in Towson, Maryland I can easily drive to meet my clients when we need a working session. My clients benefit both because I’m readily available, and because within this geography I don’t charge for travel time; I benefit because I can serve my clients and at the end of the day I’m home with my family.
Here’s why you should choose CompensationGPS for your company compensation planning:
My expertise is helping companies address compensation matters that arise when significant change is in the air. I specialize in executive compensation; and I also offer a full range of compensation assistance to my clients. I’m often called in when a company has:
A CEO or a Board that wants to assess whether top executives are paid appropriately, or how much to offer a key recruit, and/or
has begun work on a merger, acquisition or other significant corporate event like succession planning and wants to address pay for the executive team
has a desire to develop a performance-based compensation plan, or
has grown to a point where they need to put some structure around their compensation practices.
I serve both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. In the for-profit world most of my clients have between $10 million and $500 million of revenues, however I’ve worked with much larger public companies and much smaller private companies when the circumstances warrant. In the not-for-profit world I assist clients with operating budgets ranging from $5 million to $200 million. My industry experience includes Defense, Distribution, Education, Financial Services & Insurance, Healthcare, Technology, Manufacturing, and Non-Profits.
My education and training was as a CPA and tax attorney. Before I founded Compensation GPS I worked at three major companies, Black & Decker, Pitney Bowes and Ernst & Young over a 25 year career. My greatest professional satisfaction came from earning the trust of many of the leaders at these companies and helping them address important compensation issues. I now use the practical knowledge I gained from working through hundreds of compensation issues to help my clients identify and implement practical approaches to their compensation needs. I’m often told that my strength lies in my ability to get to the heart of a complex situation and identify solutions without using a lot of technical jargon.
I personally lead each client assignment. When needed, for project support I tap into my extensive network of industry experts and technical support consultants to provide an appropriate level of efficient and cost effective service. Additionally, as a co-owner of Independent Compensation Advisors, LLC (ICA) I have the ability to partner with a world-class group of fellow compensation consultants from across the country, and we maintain a world-class collection of leading compensation surveys.
I am proud to say that many of my clients regularly return to me when they need additional compensation assistance.
Feel free to contact me to discuss your specific needs.
